Travelling Solo

with constant hope

i fell in and out of love

wandering away

towards a new light – shadowed by

the memories of you

every glow darkened by a recollection

there’s normalcy

even in despair

as my patience wore me down

your distance tore me apart

it took just a second to feel you

but an eternity to forget

the sleepy drives

the lifeless conversations

a distant voice

that only existed as an afterthought

comforted and lost;

i felt both in your arms

embraced by trauma

we mended each other

until we could not anymore

a child in your presence

a woman in your absence

growth can only emerge through our distance

turns out

in every life

you were just a

heartbreaking exploration

a quench to my thirst

a lesson to be learnt

a memory to be kept

but a moment to be lost

alone not lonely

I surrender to the path ahead of me

relentlessly continuing my wander

I reunite my soul

to its Home.
