My Sweet Hermit Cabin

Come again, come again—

Orphic spring and lawny glens,

Wink gold light; beams supper bright,

Shine upon my tranquil hermit den;

Where squirrels frolic and marguerites bloom—

Crystal-white — beside the diamond shore,

Where sirens wonder, in the mystic abyss-

Of home where pang is deplored!

Hive the trees; regal bumblebees-

Buzz honey manna through the emerald dales;

Roamed alone by my curious sprite—

Through the lanky maise and whispering barley bayles;

And by my humble cabin, with a blazing fire

Where sparrows come to raid and slumber sweet;

Ornated with candles and imperishable quiet—

To end my day of hermit ecstasy.
