Caramel

Windswept, golden curls cast the angelic illusion,

Cascade across your face,

Matching Sampson, you draw your strength from follicles; Goliath’s lion mane.

Royal golden eyes, flecked with toffee,

Regal pools of honey, mixed with rich pink gin,

A devilish grin; your true nature.

You are both the angel and devil on my shoulders,

Your mind an enigma, perfectly matching mine,

Undecipherable to outsiders.

My spiritual twin,

My chosen family,

You hold a blessed warmth:

The feeling of coming home to cooked dinner

After scraping up your knees in the coldness of outside,

The childhood best friend I never had,

But always longed for.

You’ve been a shoulder to cry on as long as I’ve known you,

Thank you for making my life sweet,

Like Caramel.
