The Cursed and the Blessed
There was once something in the woods,
Ever so wild and free,
A being no one dared to name,
But they all craved to see.
Any prying eyes laid on her
Were ensnared by her beauty,
Compelled to always draw nearer
Blind to their prime duty
Of granting her one dearest will
Of a peace owed and earned.
Deaf to her prayers of freedom,
She was chased as poor hearts yearned.
There was something once in the sea,
Crowned with enchanting grace.
Known to grant wishes to the brave,
They all thrilled to the chase.
She cried hard for her liberty
But none wanted to hear,
Her words faded in water
As she drowned, alone in fear.
There was once something in the sky,
A sad silhouette blurred
By the lust and greed of others,
Threats masked as singing birds.
Trapped in a cage of desires,
Her wings aching to fly,
She felt the lack of air burning
Her lungs to choke her cry.
There was once something next to you,
Leaving only awe in its wake.
You thirsted to own such prize
But it was not yours to take.
Yet you ran after its shadow
Through woods and seas and skies;
It was cursed with the power to lure you,
To scorch and bless your eyes.
Bewitched by her crystal summons
You did not realise
That chasing her kindness away
Made of you her prey and prize.
